This Benedictus opens with an exquisite duet between the soprano and the organ obbligato, foreshadowing the beautiful organ solo movements in Haydn's masses (both Joseph and Michael Haydn trained as boy choristers in St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna, under Reutter's direction). Reutter also wrote out an optional violin solo part that could take the place of the organ obbligato. The piece closes with a short, majestic Osanna for the full choir.
