This set of 15 hymn descants and interludes is intended for use by volunteer church choirs, and for organists who may wish to add a short phrase or two prior to the last stanza. each hymn arrangement in the collection begins with the penultimate stanza, followed by an interlude and final reharmonized stanza with descant.

Several of the descants ascend no higher than F; otherwise the highest note is G. Instruments may be used, either as solo instruments, or doubling the sopranos. Easter Hymn includes optional parts for two trumpets in C in addition to the vocal descant.

This collection follows the The Hymnal 1982 and may be used with hymnals of most major denominations. A companion vocal score (CAN 7001.03) is available for use with the organ score (CAN 7001.01).
