Most of Auber's sacred music, consisting of motets and settings of single movements from the Ordinary of the Mass, was composed late in his life after he had established himself as a composer of opera. O salutaris hostia is a hymn traditionally used as a benediction; the English singing text included in this edition is a meditative prayer suitable for many occasions. A literal English translation of the Latin text is also included.

This is a lovely motet by the young American composer Mark Hardy, composed in honor of conductor, teacher and composer Thomas Dunn. Os Justi is a compelling blend of chant-like vocal lines and interesting harmonies. A good choice for smaller choirs - the vocal lines are not difficult.

Jon Spong has created a lovely setting of the text by Mother Teresa of Calcutta (the alternative text is John 14:27). The instrumental part is simple and would be a good choice for a young instrumentalist. The piece works well either as an anthem for unison choir or as a solo.

Glenn Sproul has created a delicate musical setting for the e.e. cummings poem. It has been performed both as a wedding piece and at a memorial service, bringing a sense of celebration of life to both contexts.
